摘要

A kinetic study of the polymerisation of acrylamide initiated by the thermal catalyst 4-4'-azo-bis-4-cyanopentanoic acid showed that up to 10% conversions the rate of polymerisation is directly proportional to the concentration of monomer and to the square root of the concentration of catalyst. In the presence of ferric perchlorate and decimolar perchloric acid, however, the overall rate of polymerisation is reduced and the rate now becomes directly proportional to the first power of the catalyst concentration and inversely proportional to the concentration of ferric ions present.
