A detailed ion-exchange procedure for the separation of chemical elements in described. The method has been in use for gamma spectrometry of some inorganic but mostly organic samples for one year. The separation time for inorganic shambles is usually about 1 1/2 hours and for organic samples at least 2 hours. One man can separate and count threes gambles per day. In comparative measures of shortlived isotopes in biological material 10-12 easements can be analyzed thus making possible 30-35 determinations per day for one man.
