INFORMATION DISPLAY IN THE AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEM

This paper presents a plan of attack on the problem of displays for use in advanced air traffic control systems. The method, known as CODE (for “Controller Decision Evaluation”), consists of the experimental comparison of display information and formats under condition of accordable static simulations.nThe technique makes it possible a assess the effectiveness of ATC Systems which as yet are only visualized, as well as of system now being developed or in actual operation. Two experiments are reported utilizing the method.
