The new leads consisted of an observation, a deduction, and a now method. The observation consisted in the fact that difunctional halogen-phosphorous compounds employed in imparting flame resistance were oapable of crosslinking nylon by them-selves. Thus, if the acrylonitrile were replaced by such phosphorous compound, less additional flame proofer would be required to obtain improvement.
