According to information received from the Secretariat of the FIP-CEB Joint Committee, the limit design method* could serve as a basis for practical recommendations for the design of prestressed concrete structures. We fully approve of this initiative.nThe efficiency of this method and its susceptibility of further development and improvement are confirmed by the experience gained during the eight years in which the "Standards and rules" and the five years in which the "Instructions" have been applied and also by the many experimental and theoretical investigations on reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete structures which have been carried out in the U.S.S.R. in recent years.
