CONSTITUTIVE EQUATIONS OF VISCOELASTIC SOLIDS UNDER FINITE DEFORMATION

The constitutive equations of reference 1 are discussed. Subsequently to establish a similarity between the short-time elastic response and the long-time equilibrium stress for materials with fading memory, certain approximations are proposed. A number of boundary-value problems under prescribed static finite strain and small dynamic strains superposed on prectressed solids are solved. Existing experimental data compared with these solutions appear to favor the proposed approximations.
