This report describes steps which were taken to re-engineer the tube without altering the basic coaxial circuit concept. Specific areas in which it was sought to improve design and performance weren1. Suppression of higher-order coaxial modes in the slow-wave circuit.n2. Improvement in gun design to eliminate end-of-pulse oscillation.n3. Increasing electron beam transmission.n4. Changing the mechanical design to permit more thorough out-ngassing.n5.tRedesigning the input and output matching sections.
