PRODUCTION ENGINEERING MEASURE FOR COLUMBIUM CAPACITORS SECOND QUARTERLY REPORT PERIOD:SEPTEMBER 26, 1963 – DECEMBER 26, 1963

In this quarter, construction of three of the four ratings required for the preproduction sample was begun. Construction on the fourth will begin shortly.nStudy of aging conditions milder than those normally employed revealed that varying the voltage and temperature aging parameters apparently does not affect the final capacitance, dissipation factor, and leakage current readings on a capacitor. This finding resulted from a matrix study. To obtain more conclusive results, another matrix is planned during the next quarter in which the best parameters of the first matrix will be incorporated. The first matrix also revealed that following aging bias-read and nonbiased values of capacitance and dissipation factor are practically equal.nThe most recent data from the continuing randomization studies indicate that multiple randomizations improve the dissipation factors of 330 (xf-6 V and 33 uf-10 V capacitors.
