摘要

A study (7) in which the rat was used as the ex¬perimental animal indicated that the respiratory system is extremely vulnerable to the stress of whole body vibration, with pulmonary hemorrhage, edema and atelactasis being the major pathological findings. Explosive decompression alone has been shown (8-10) also to produce essentially these same pathological effects.nAs a part of a continuing study, application of mechanical vibration prior to and in conjunction with explosive decompression was carried out to determine whether vibration would modify an animals tolerance to such decompression.
