摘要

The conditions necessary for the production of various types of photo voltages are described. These are: photovoltages due to homogeneous or in-homogeneous excitat5.on and subsequent production of free carriers in the photoconductor;photovoltages due to collisions of excitons with the elec¬trode whereby the excitons are produced in the photoconductor but do not produce free carriers in this material;photovoltages due to chemical pro¬cesses produced in the photoconductor or in the electrode material;photo¬voltages much larger than the band gap of the photoconductor. The theory of these photovoltages is given for various conditions. Finally the relation¬ship between photovoltages and rectification is given.nThe following special photovoltaic effects have been investigated: photovoltaic effects in organic crystals with liquid and metal electrodes when the photoconductive material is excited and photovoltages in organic crystals produced with special iodine electrodes when these iodine elec-trodes are excited by light.
