The work performed during the second quarter and described in this report, falls mainly into two categories;instrumentation and experimental work to characterize the three standard modes of the small laboratory arc described previously. This characterization is being done in terms of arc turbulence and fluctuations and in terms of conventional time-average spectro¬scopic temperatures pending completion of instrumentation for time resolved spectroscopy that will permit instantaneous temperatures at each point in the arc to be determined.
