摘要

The aim of this study was to analyze, experimentally test, and evaluate the degree, to which certain factor and vector analysis programs (Imbrie, 1983) are useful for quantitative terrain analysis. Specific objectives were: 1) The testing of the usefulness of these computer programs for deriving meaningful and trappable terrain classes;2) The determination of inherent correlations among various terrain parameters currently used;3) The definition of a minimum;yet sufficient, terrain analysis system;and 4) The determination of the extent to which quantitative terrain analysis can be automated.
