摘要

Part I discusses the general field problem, the various generalncoordinate transformations, and a rotational transformation. These operations are performed to obtain the angular deviation a (the angular perturbation of. the total magnetic field) in terms of convenient cylindrical coordinates (&, P, R) and the parameters of the system: the uniform ambient magnetic field Ho, the magnetic moment of the dipole Mo, and the inclination angle 6 between the Ho field and the horizontal plane.
