Experiment designs, test data, analysis and results for investiga¬tion of constant potential charging at 75°F, 125°F, -10F and -40 F for cells at initial states of charge of 0% and 66% are presented. Ad¬ditional test data and analyses on constant current charging are also presented.nThe experiments include test variables of ambient cell temper¬ature, charging period, charging potential, percent overcharge, initial state of charge, cell size and discharge rate depending upon the type of charging method employed. Cells of type BB 412( )/U and BB 440 ( )/U were used in this investigation.nAnalysis of the charging procedures are based upon the percent capacity obtained at test conditions to that obtained at standard condi¬tions. The average of the results obtained at 75°F and 125F following constant potential charges was greater than that following constant current charges over the selected levels of the test variables. Since the cell performance data obtained at the levels of the test variables investigated at -10F and -40F thus far are incomplete, no conclusions can be drawn in this report period pertaining to the better charg¬ing method at low temperature.
