During this period the field probing system was completed and put into operation. Initial irial runs were made to determine the characteristics of the equipment and as a result, several retirements were added to improve undesirable operation features. The first group of tests involved the collection of Fresnel zone radiation data for the square aperture array in programmed arid self-focusing modes of operation for a point focus. Patterns are included for mills cross and compact array arrangements as well as the patterns for a two-dimensional Tchebyscheff amplitude taper. The effects of antenna element factor on the radiated field were also measured by direct substitution of larger horn elements.
