Cycle life studies were made on groups of cells in which the ratio of ZnO to" silver was varied from 0.75: 1 to 4:1. Maximum life was obtained at the 2:1 ratio.nTests designed to show the effects on life of separator overhang at the top3 of the plates and around negatives of reduced area and positives of re¬duced area showed that extension of separators over the tops of the plates is necessary, but reduction in area of either plate to obtain overhang around the perimeter is detrimental in the case of the negative and not sufficiently productive of increased life in the case of the positive to warrant design consideration.nElectrolyte quantity tests indicate that both initial capacity and cycle life are improved if a high electrolyte level is provided. This is discussed in terms of sealed-cell operation.
