摘要

Two synthesis schemes are used to prepare eight related naphthylsilanes. The basic absorption and emission properties of these compounds are investigated in the ultra-violet region. These properties include molecular extinction coefficient determinations, fluorescence of glass silanes, fluorescence in cyclohexane and EPA at 298°K and 77°K, and phosphorescence in EPA at 77°K. Also mean lifetimes of phosphorescent bands were determined.nMolecular extinction coefficient calculations indicate the 1-naphthylsilanes absorb light in direct proportion to the number of naphthalene molecules attached to the silicon atom. No apparent correlation in the absorption of the 2-naphthylsilanes exists.
