Two types of problems are distinguished in soil analysis.n1) We must obtain a general picture of the inorganic composition of the soils. In this case soil ash or dry soil is analyzed.n2) Sometimes, especially when it is Important to know the rela¬tive concentration the sought elements in the soil and plants, we must also analyze soil extracts. Various soil extracts are used: hydrochloric acid, acetic acid, and also extracts with solutions of ammonium acetate. The extracts obtained are either analyzed directly or are concentrated.
