Employment of OV-1 (Mohawk) Aircraft in Support of Counterinsurgency Operations.

The purpose of the supplement is to update mission statistics and other information pertaining to the operation of the 23d Special Warfare Aviation Detachment (SWAD) and to verify and supplement results contained in the Mohawk final test report. A flight team of the 23d SWAD was deployed in direct support of the I ARVIN Corps. This deployment extended the influence of the Mohawk and tested the capability of the 23d SWAD to operate and support flight teams continuously up to a distance of 250 miles from the detachment headquarters. The terrain and weather in I ARVN Corps area of operations, although new to the pilots and observers, were similar to the terrain and weather of II ARVN Corps area, in which 23d SWAD had operated previously.
