This paper reports the results of a series of tests made to determine the buckling behavior of circular cylinders and conical shells under repeated axial compression. It is shown that if the only restriction placed on buckle depth is that buckle development is such that no permanent gross strain results after load removal, then the buckle load progressively falls with repeated application until a constant lower bound is reached.
