A Simplified Hartree-Fock Procedure for Atoms with Two Electrons outside Closed Shells

Our purpose is to explore the possibility of using such an effective potential to describe the interaction of each of the outer electrons with the closed-shell core for a system which has two electrons outside the core, while the exchange between the outer electrons, and to some extent also the correlation effects, are included explicitly.nA convenient system is provided by the calcium atom for which there arc available results of other calculations with which to compare our results.
