摘要

The effects of whole body X-irradiation on the non-protein amino acids and related compounds of rat brains were determined by automatic ion exchange chromatography. Significant decreases were found in the brain levels of taurine, urea, serine, glutamine, alanine, methionine, B-alanine and arginine, while ethanolamine-ammonia was the only chromatographic peak which showed a significant increase. Comparison of these results with the changes previously reported as a result of acceleration stress suggest that the decrease in the serine and urea content and the increase in the ethanolamine-ammonia complex reflect the effects of a generalized stress syndrome.
