Four aluminum foil tapes were evaluated as replacements for Tape A as an environmental seal on ammunition items. Tape A was included in the test program as a control sample. The criteria for acceptance of the tapes were satisfactory adhesion of the tape to the surface after environmental conditioning in accordance with MIL-STD-354 and MIL-STD-355, and seal¬ing under 3 psi internal air pressure. These results were indicated:n(1) Tape A, B and E met all the above requirements for sealing.n(2) Tape D met the sealing requirements only if extra precau¬tions were taken during the application.n(3) Tape C failed to provide a satisfactory seal under the environmental extremes.
