Studies of Adaptation to Protein Malnutrition

摘要

The rationale and technique of producing a static preparation of chronic protein malnutrition in rats and dogs is reported. The technique employs a period of fasting adjusted to initial weight of the animal and then "titration" to a low protein intake adequate in calories to maintain weight at 70-80% of initial weight. Such animals have been observed for over six months.
