NEW LOW-CONTRAST DEVELOPER FOR RAPID PROCESSING OF AERIAL AND DUPLICATING FILMS

A low-contrast photographic developer has been formulated for rapid processing (90°F) of currently available aerial reconnaissance and duplicating films. Active developing agents are l-phenyl-3-pyrazolidone (Phenidone) and Hydroquinone. inTests indicate that the developer can best be used with the 8401 (Kodak Plus-X Aerecon), §0-243 (Kodak High Definition), SO-278 (Kodak Fine Grain Duplicating), and 5227-84 (Type 1A Class G2 Films). The developer produces gammas from 1.0 to 1.5 while maintaining rated emulsion speeds. This developer can also be used for processing at 68°F, although it produces higher contrast results under these conditions.
