THE CRYSTAL STRUCTURE OP BORON TRIFLUORIDE DIHYDRATE

The early observation by KUnkenberg & Ketelaar (1935) that the x-ray diffraction pattern of EF3.2H2o is very similar to those of NH4 BF$ and NLi4CLO4 suggested that the former compound is isomorphous with the latter compounds, and so is probably a hydronium salt. It would then be an interesting addition to the crystalline hydronium salts which have been studied in this laboratory! H3OCI (Yoon and Carpenter, 1959) and H.0C1(V (Lee ft Carpenter, 1959), and would help to determine where to expect a hydrate and where a hydronium salt.
