Consider the problem of solving the system of differential equationsnTaking the viewpoint of invariant imbedding, we regard these equations as arising from a one-dimensional transport process in which u and v represent the right-hand and left-hand fluxes at an interior point t.nThe problem of expressing the internal fluxes u and v in terms of r(z,y,x) (the reflected flux at x due -to an incident flux of z at x and y at 0) leads us to some interesting functional equations which generalize the usual functional equations associated with the case where g and h are linear in u and v.
