This report covers the general aspects of a multipurpose antenna radiation pattern measuring instrument designed, fabricated, instrumented and placed in operation during the early part of 1962. Initial planning began in late 1958 when it was apparent that the need for such an instrument was evident to support present and future electromagnetic programs of national interest. R is one of the finest antenna ranges in the country today and is expected to serve the country's needs for many years to come.
