Preliminary studies of bonded joint fabrication technique were conducted with 26 uniaxial lap and scarf joint specimens and 17 sub-scale test cases' of 5" nominal diameter and. 18" length. Fifteen of the sub-scale units ex¬ceeded the target bonded joint strength of 3750 psi by an average of 40%. The information gained from these preliminary tests was applied to the fabrication of 16 prototype bonded end closure cases of 16" nominal diameter and 41" length.
