CONSTRUCTION OF CONCRETE PAVING WITH A SLIP-FORM PAVER

A visit was made to Orly Airport, Paris, to observe the con-struction of concrete paving by a slip-form paver. This report describes the operation of the paver and the type of work constructed.nThe general impression was that the slip-form paver can produce high-quality work and is capable of handling very large outputs of concrete. The potential application of the machine for the construction of paving work in the United Kingdom is briefly assessed with reference to the provision of reinforcement and dowelled joints.
