ANALYSIS OF THE DYNAMICS OF ELASTIC SYSTEMS

Two major areas of investigation were considered under this grant were propagation in elastic materials and statistical problems in elastic-dynamics.nA study of the effects of slight surface irregularities on surface wave propagation in an elastic-half space has been completed and published (see 5.) It has been shown that if the variations in the surface are small, a simple interpretation and formula can be given for the first correction term in a perturbation expansion.
