REFLECTIONS IN AND FROM ONE-DIMENSIONAL REGULAR AND IMPERFECT POINT LATTICES

The general features of wave phenomena shaped by periodicity in the supporting medium or environment are now largely elucidated, notwithstanding which there remain analytical difficulties in effecting detailed calculations for specific configurations, especially those of a three-dimensional (or realistic) nature. With this report we commence an account of investigations into the utility of integral equation and transform procedures for systematizing such analysis and even accommodating deviations from complete periodicity.
