Service Suitability Evaluation of Generator Drogue Lighting Kits for the D-704 Air Refueling Store

These kits were similar to the one supplied by Douglas Aircraft Company (DAC) on the improved version of the D-704 air refueling store. The latter was evaluated and reported in reference 1. The improvements recommended in reference 1 for the wind-driven generator drogue lighting system were incorporated in the FRI kits. Reference 2 requested a service suitability evaluation of the FRI kits for use during night refueling. BuWeps deleted the requirement to supply HATWING ONE with one of the two kits and requested a NATC Report of Test Results as a final report.
