Determination of the Solid Phase Velocity in a Turbulent Gas-Solids Pipe Flow

摘要

A description is given of the development of a new type of probe, employing optical fibres, for the determination of the velocity of solid particles in a two phase gas-solids flow. The application of this probe to a turbulent pipe flow, comprising a suspension of 200 micron glass beads in air, yielded the distribution function for the longitudinal velocity as well as the mean velocity, mass flux and concentration profiles. Results are reported for measurements made at two separate axial locations for single values of the Reynolds number and mass flux ratio. (Author)
