Isolation of specific antigens from larval and adult stages of Schistosomes

In our previous report (May 1962 through April 1963) preliminary results concerning the isolation of antigens from larval and adult forms of S. mansoni were given. The present export refers to the continuation of these investigations emphasizing:nA - The immunochemical characteristics of the water extracts of S. mansoni (cercarial and adults), mainly the overall antigenic potential and stability under various physico-chemical conditions (heat inactivation, effect of freezing and thawing, lyophilization and storage).nB - Partial fractionation and isolation of a number of protein antigens from cercarial and adult forms and their reactivity with anti-schistosome sera from natural human or experimental animal infections.nC - Cross-reactions between schistosome and Triehlnella antigen-antibody systems.nD - The variable interactions between antibody and antigens depending upon the phase of the infection and the type of antigens used.
