In work described in references [l-4] the conditions were determined under which polysiloxanes exhibit maximum activity when used as additives that improve the antifriction and ant wear characteristics of hydrocarbon lubricants. It was shown that oxidation under boundary conditions of friction affects the lubricating capacity of polysiloxanes in the same direction as in hydrocarbon media.nThe purpose of the work described in this instance was application of some organic compounds as additives to various polysiloxanes in order to establish the specific action of the additives in boundary friction, determination of relations between the activity of the additives and the nature of the polysiloxanes, and determination of the effect of molecular oxygen on the activity of the additives.
