SOURCES AND CONTROL OF MECHANICAL VIBRATIONS AFFECTING MACHINE TOOL PERFORMANCE QUALITY

An investigation of the internal and external sources of vibration in machining operations which impair the performance quality of conventional machine tools was conducted. Particular attention was given to the surface finish of workpieces and the deflection of specific machine tool components, such as spindleheads, tailstocks, tool holders and columns.
