The basic purpose of dimensionless characteristics (and also dimensional characteristics, but plotted in co-ordinates which are not affected by parameters at the compressor inlet) is to extend data from a calculation or test to similar regimes.nThe regimes may be completely similar and primarily have similar velocity triangles at all stages and identical ratios u/co, c2/co and cz/u, or may be conditionally similar, i.e., have similar triangles only in the middle stage.
