摘要

The studies have excluded the role of silicone and oxygen bubbles in the genesis of brain and spinal cord damage. The studies confirm the fact that 60 min of circulatory standstill is the upper limit of the tolerable ischemia even at temperatures below 10C. Spinal cord changes noted in the cross-circulation group were similar to those noted in the bubble oxygenator group. The role of ischemia and hypothermia in the genesis of this lesion is not known. It is thought that the lesion is most likely in the cord, but the possibility of its being in the peripheral nerves has not been excluded. (Author)
