Crystal Splitting in NU3 and NU5 from the Infrared Spectrum of Cyanogen

The spectrum of crystalline cyanogen, obtained with high resolution instruments reveals a third component in the nu3 peak not previously observed. Five of six predicted components are observed in the nu5 peak. The magnitudes of the observed separations is whithin the range calculated on the basis of dipole-dipole coupling. (Author)
