摘要

The research was largely centered around the uptake, storage and release of catecholamines in the sympathetic nerves and studies on the mechanism of adrenergic nerve transmission. A considerable part of the work was devoted to the study of the uptake of amines after previous depletion of the stores. This line of research led to the finding that an inorganic compound, the boron hydride decaborane, which cannot replace the transmitter, depletes the stores but allows a longlasting refilling with other amines. This general principle will be used in the search for suitable compounds to replace the natural transmitter.
