This is the third of the reports on the six lectures on Electron Microscopy held at the "Istituto Superiore di Sanita" in Rome on June 23-28, 1965.nThis report will form the first of three lectures on the basic princi ples for the preparation of specimens for electron microscopy. Some of the most general techniques are discussed:methods of supporting the object on a type of film;shadow casting;positive staining;thin sections and replicas.
