This investigation attempts to establish minimum woight beans proportions, based on beam web classic buckling criteria, for unstiffoned I beams in pure bending. The investigation is basically a study the parameters affecting beam weight for both strength and deflection designed beaus. It is shown that optimum bean depth monists at whom the beau cross sectional axes will be minimum for both strength designed and deflection designed boats. Design charts are prepared which enable the beau designer to select the lightest weight beam depth for the design moment load and for the design stress level that the bona can sustain.
