Pressure measurements have been made in the region of separation induced by a sharp spike ahead of a flat faced, right circular cylinder at Mach 11. 6. The pressures on the face of the cylinder were measured with both surface orifices and a traversing probe. A pitot survey was also made o£ the free shear layer. The results indicate that the face traversing probe did not influence the separated region greatly and gave pressure values generally in agreement with the surface orifices. The pitot probe, which was inserted farther upstream, influenced the separated region more critically, but not so much as to preclude the production of useful pitot surveys.
