METHOD OF SELECTING ORIENTATED SAMPLES FROM IRREGULARLY BEDDED ROCKS FOR PALEOMAGNETIC STUDIES

In working with regularly bedded or massive sedimentary rocks one should, in order to avoid errors in analyzing the material, mark the samples according to the cross bedding, and then, either by using a geological map or by determining the true tectonic dip-angle, introduce a correction, that is, convert from the coordinate system of the irregular bedding to the coordinate system of the tectonic dip-angle, just as existing practice [3] recommends in correcting the coordinates of the poles of arbitrarily marked samples.
