STUDY, INVESTIGATION, AND DEVELOPMENT OF NON-DESTRUCTIVE RELIABILITY SCREENING OF METALLIZED MYLAR CAPACITORS

The purpose of this program is to study, investigate and develop nondestructive techniques for reliability screening of metallized mylar plastic capacitors. The program will develop and prove the effectiveness of a process for removing potential unreliable parts from a lot of high quality production parts. The program is com¬prised of three phases. In Phase I, the applicability of certain complex measure¬ments of quality were investigated;In Phase II, several screening tests and measurements designed to permit the elimination of the two major failure mechan¬isms will be studied separately, and in Phase III, the effectiveness of the screen¬ing tests developed in Phase II will be determined by the application to a large sample size. This is an interim report containing information on the first 9 months of Contract AF30(602)-3632.
