Probabilistic processing is a method of processing the output data of an array of seismometers with the aim of detecting earthquake or underground nuclear blast signals in the presence of ambient seismic noise. This method is based on the assumption that the array output is Gaussian with mean zero and known covariance matrix Ω1 or Ω2, depending on the absence or presence of signal.
