摘要

The objective of the research effort was an evaluation of the fatigue behavior of socket-joined, copper-nickel piping. Specific areas of investigation were: evaluation of the fatigue behavior of 2- and 4-inch-diameter silver-brazed and welded socket joints, comparison of the performance of the socket joints with that of 4-inch-diameter consumable-insert and 2- and 4-inch-diameter integral backing-ring butt-welded joints, and exploration of the effects of shock loading and superposed internal-pressure cycling on the fatigue behavior of 4-inch-diameter silver-brazed socket joints. All joining of pipe specimens was accomplished to current Navy acceptance standards. (Author)
