In their studies of base maintenance management, both the Air Force and RAND have given much attention to problems of long-run resource allocation. These problems consist of determining preferred or optimal allocations of logistic resources whose quantities are variable over an assumed time period. There has been less concern for the equally important problems of short-run maintenance management, supervision and control.
