OCEANIC RIDGES AND RIFT STRUCTURE GEOLOGICAL NATURE OF THE MAGNETIC AND GRAVITY ANOMALIES OVER THE RIFT VALLEY

Among regions of heightened tectonic activity, particular interest attaches to island arc systems (with their adjacent deep trenches) and to oceanic ridges. For in these regions there is taking place a growth of the earth's crust, by way of a transformation of the mantle substance. Here we detect relationships of the crust with the deep parts of the planet, and therefore the study of such structures enables us to draw conclusions that are important for our knowledge of the most general laws of the earth's constitution and development.
